Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit electronic claims to insurance payers and follow up on outstanding balances
- Resolve claim denials and rejections through systematic investigation
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before service delivery
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing best practices
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans
- Analyze aging reports to identify and collect overdue accounts
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial insurance carriers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth)
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Excellent analytical skills for complex claim resolution
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy in data entry and verification
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field
