Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields with zero-tolerance contamination protocols
- Coordinate instrument/equipment sterilization processes exceeding OSHA standards
- Assist surgeons during complex procedures with precision instrument handling
- Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation for compliance
- Train junior staff on advanced surgical techniques and safety protocols
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient transitions
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for surgical outcomes
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- 3+ years of experience in Level I trauma or orthopedic surgery
- Current BLS/CPR certification with ACLS preferred
- Expertise in robotic surgical systems (da Vinci) highly valued
- Proven track record in sterile processing compliance
- Ability to maintain composure during high-pressure emergency cases
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and patient safety regulations
- Associates degree in Surgical Technology or related field
