Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical equipment for complex procedures including orthopedics, neurosurgery, and organ transplants
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and sterile field integrity
- Manage surgical inventory and equipment sterilization processes
- Train and mentor junior surgical technology staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for surgical outcomes
- Document procedural activities in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Level I trauma center OR
- Completion of accredited surgical technology program
- Experience with robotic surgical systems (da Vinci preferred)
- BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/ST79)
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate surgical team needs
- TN state surgical tech license
