Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and document medical histories accurately
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures and administer medications as directed
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Perform diagnostic tests including EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen processing
- Coordinate patient flow, schedule appointments, and handle insurance verification
- Maintain sterile exam environments and manage inventory of medical supplies
- Provide patient education on treatment plans and preventive care
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a fast-paced medical setting
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic or NextGen preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification and venipuncture skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask effectively
- Valid CPR certification and willingness to obtain DC-specific credentials
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional weekends
