Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and escort them to examination rooms to ensure a seamless intake process.
- Prepare patients for examinations by assisting with history taking, changing attire, and positioning them comfortably.
- Perform vital sign assessments (blood pressure, temperature, weight, height) and record data accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assist providers during clinical procedures, including administering injections, drawing blood, and performing basic EKGs.
- Manage administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, processing patient billing, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- Provide patient education on medication instructions and follow-up care requirements.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
