Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Measure vital signs, record patient medical history, and prepare patients for examinations.
- Assistance: Assist physicians and nurses during exams and procedures.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient charts, update electronic health records (EHR), and schedule appointments.
- Lab Work: Perform basic lab tests, draw blood, and prepare specimens for analysis.
- Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and exam rooms.
- Communication: Interact professionally with patients and answer incoming calls regarding inquiries.
- Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and clinic protocols to ensure patient privacy and safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification required.
- Licensure: New York State Medical Assistant license in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth) is a plus.
- Interpersonal: Strong communication skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Physical: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs when assisting patients.
