Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional manner, managing check-in procedures and verifying insurance information accurately.
- Perform vital sign measurements (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and record data in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient examinations, ensuring patient comfort and privacy.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including drawing blood (phlebotomy) and administering injections as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and examination rooms to ensure infection control standards.
- Process lab specimens and coordinate referrals to specialists as needed.
- Handle patient inquiries via phone or in-person with empathy and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Current New York State Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) required.
- Valid NYS Clinical Assistant License.
- CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross is mandatory.
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.
