Responsibilities
- Perform basic life support (BLS) and assist physicians with clinical procedures, including phlebotomy and EKGs.
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) accurately and document in EMR systems.
- Greet patients, verify insurance information, and prepare them for examinations.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Instruct patients on medications, post-procedure care, and follow-up appointments.
- Administer medications as directed by the physician and monitor patient reactions.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from an accredited institution.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume hospital setting.
