Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, updating medical histories, and explaining procedures to ensure comfort and understanding.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during exams and minor procedures, handling patient requests and questions with empathy.
- Lab & Testing: Perform basic laboratory tests, draw blood samples (phlebotomy), and prepare specimens for analysis in the lab.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient intake, schedule appointments, and handle insurance verification and referrals efficiently.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using our Electronic Health Records (EHR) system, ensuring full HIPAA compliance.
- Patient Education: Provide clear instructions regarding medications, follow-up care, and healthy lifestyle choices to patients and their families.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) is preferred.
- Licensing: Must possess a current BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Previous experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting is highly desirable; new graduates are considered with relevant clinical rotations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer systems and Electronic Health Records (EHR) software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages.
- Work Ethic: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and maintain flexibility for various shift patterns.
