Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and updating records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as EKGs, blood draws, and point-of-care testing, following strict safety protocols.
  • Manage administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and processing patient billing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, diet, and lifestyle changes post-visit.
  • Handle incoming calls and emails professionally, acting as the first point of contact for patient inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) or graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record systems (Epic, Athenahealth, etc.) is a plus.
