Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with patient examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient records, schedule appointments, handle insurance verification, and process billing inquiries.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform vital sign monitoring, venipuncture (phlebotomy), and EKGs as required by the department.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to safety protocols, sterilization procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
- Communication: Clearly communicate instructions and health education to patients and their families.
- Lab Support: Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and maintain a clean, organized exam room.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and current certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a busy medical office preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Michigan Medical Assistant license.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and computer applications.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.
