Responsibilities
- Patient Preparation: Greet patients, verify demographics, and prepare them for examinations by taking vital signs and recording medical history.
- Provider Support: Assist physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, and wound care according to hospital protocols.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) and process insurance verification.
- Lab Management: Collect, prepare, and label specimens for laboratory analysis in compliance with safety standards.
- Communication: Clearly communicate test results and patient instructions to the healthcare team and patients.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), or NCMA certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is a plus.
