Responsibilities

  • Patient Intake & Triage: Greet patients warmly, verify demographics, and obtain accurate vital signs (blood pressure, weight, height, temperature) prior to provider consultation.
  • Assist Providers: Act as a first point of contact for the provider, preparing examination rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting during physical exams and minor procedures.
  • Clinical Support: Perform point-of-care testing (phlebotomy, EKGs, rapid strep, flu tests) and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage patient records, schedule appointments, process insurance verifications, and handle incoming calls with professionalism.
  • Medication Management: Assist in medication reconciliation and ensure proper documentation of prescriptions and refills in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Patient Education: Provide clear instructions on medication usage, post-procedure care, and preventative health measures to patients and families.
  • Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations, clinic protocols, and OSHA safety standards at all times.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with current certification (CMA, RMA, or RMA-NC) or equivalent experience.
  • License: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
