Responsibilities
- Patient Intake & Triage: Greet patients warmly, verify demographics, and obtain accurate vital signs (blood pressure, weight, height, temperature) prior to provider consultation.
- Assist Providers: Act as a first point of contact for the provider, preparing examination rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting during physical exams and minor procedures.
- Clinical Support: Perform point-of-care testing (phlebotomy, EKGs, rapid strep, flu tests) and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient records, schedule appointments, process insurance verifications, and handle incoming calls with professionalism.
- Medication Management: Assist in medication reconciliation and ensure proper documentation of prescriptions and refills in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Patient Education: Provide clear instructions on medication usage, post-procedure care, and preventative health measures to patients and families.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations, clinic protocols, and OSHA safety standards at all times.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with current certification (CMA, RMA, or RMA-NC) or equivalent experience.
- License: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred; immediate hire consideration for highly motivated candidates with graduation within the last 6 months.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) and computer applications.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy in charting and data entry.
- Availability: Ability to work full-time hours, including occasional early mornings or evening shifts to accommodate patient needs.
