About the Role:
As a Medical Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring a seamless experience from check-in to check-out. You will work closely with physicians and nurses to deliver top-tier clinical care.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations, including preparing patients, taking vital signs, and documenting medical histories accurately.
- Administrative Duties: Manage front desk operations, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and processing patient registration forms.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform basic laboratory tests, EKGs, and assist with phlebotomy as required by state regulations and provider discretion.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock examination rooms, medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals to ensure clinical readiness.
- Communication: Clearly communicate test results and patient instructions to ensure adherence to treatment plans.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification preferred).
- Licensure: Current New York State Medical Assistant registration or certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is highly preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) and basic computer applications.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients (up to 50 lbs), and perform manual dexterity tasks.
