Responsibilities

  • Patient Interaction: Greet patients warmly, verify demographics and insurance information, and ensure a welcoming clinic environment.
  • Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures, including preparing instruments and draping patients.
  • Vitals & Triage: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, weight) and report abnormal findings to the provider.
  • Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments, manage patient charts in the EMR system, and prepare referral letters.
  • Specimen Collection: Perform basic lab tests, draw blood, and ensure proper specimen handling and processing according to lab protocols.
  • Infection Control: Maintain strict adherence to sterilization and sanitation standards in the exam rooms and common areas.
  • Pharmacy Support: Coordinate medication refills and verify patient allergies prior to medication administration.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and currently certified (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) or eligible for certification.
  • Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a busy medical practice or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth) is highly desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.
