Responsibilities
- Perform routine medical examinations and assessments under the supervision of a licensed physician or nurse practitioner.
- Assist with patient intake, including taking vital signs, updating medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers and document all treatments accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for patient use.
- Coordinate patient follow-up appointments and provide clear instructions regarding medications and post-care.
- Collaborate with the nursing and administrative staff to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow during the night shift.
- Handle patient inquiries professionally and provide a welcoming, empathetic environment for all visitors.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient education.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shift hours (e.g., 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM).
- Proficient in phlebotomy and EKG procedures.
