Responsibilities
- Patient Intake & Vital Signs: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance details, and accurately measure vital signs prior to provider visits.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with examinations, minor medical procedures, and injections.
- Administrative Duties: Manage appointment scheduling, maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR), and process lab requisitions.
- Lab Procedures: Prepare samples for testing, perform basic point-of-care testing, and assist with phlebotomy as needed.
- Communication: Educate patients on medications, follow-up care, and health maintenance protocols in a clear, empathetic manner.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification required.
- Licensure: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a primary care or specialty practice setting.
- San Diego Experience: Preference given to candidates familiar with the local healthcare landscape.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) and strong computer literacy.
