Responsibilities
- Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.
- Prepare patients for examination by assisting with gowns, drapes, and positioning.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and draw blood samples using venipuncture techniques.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as ordered by the provider, ensuring patient safety.
- Maintain and sterilize medical equipment and clean examination rooms to ensure infection control standards.
- Manage patient flow, answer phones, and schedule appointments efficiently.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- 1+ years of clinical experience in a primary care or urgent care setting is preferred.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first mindset.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients or equipment safely.
