Responsibilities
- Patient Preparation: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and prepare examination rooms with necessary medical equipment and supplies.
- Vital Signs & History: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature) and update medical histories.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations by preparing instruments and documenting procedures.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and injections as directed by providers and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Lab & Tests: Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform EKGs, and assist with basic diagnostic tests.
- Administrative Duties: Manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and handle medical records and billing correspondence efficiently.
- Patient Education: Provide clear instructions regarding medications, post-care, and follow-up appointments to patients and their families.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with current certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA).
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of clinical experience in a primary care or specialty medical setting preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a compassionate, patient-first approach.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) is a plus.
