Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and document medical histories
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures and administer medications under supervision
- Perform diagnostic tests including EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen processing
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Coordinate patient flow and manage appointment scheduling efficiently
- Provide patient education on treatment plans and preventive care
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent certification
- Active CPR certification and BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in ambulatory or hospital setting
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic, Athenahealth preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to multitask in high-pressure environments
- Valid Texas state MA certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
