Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and check them in at the reception desk, updating medical records as necessary.
  • Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, weight, temperature, and pulse.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by assisting with draping, positioning, and reviewing medical history.
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures, including drawing blood and performing EKGs.
  • Maintain examination rooms, sterilizing equipment and restocking supplies to ensure a clean environment.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens according to strict safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and team members to ensure accurate and compassionate care.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA) required; graduation from an accredited program is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Strong computer proficiency with experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient privacy (HIPAA compliance).
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs when assisting patients.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and reliable transportation.
