Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines
- Submit and track electronic claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Research and resolve claim denials, underpayments, and billing discrepancies
- Manage patient accounts, including payment plans and collections communications
- Stay current with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, CMS) and coding updates
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure documentation meets billing requirements
- Generate monthly reports on key billing metrics and performance indicators
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, Medisoft, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality
- Experience with denial management and appeals processes
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field
