Responsibilities
- Review and assign accurate ICD-10/CPT codes to medical procedures and diagnoses
- Submit electronic claims to insurance providers and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Follow up on denied/pending claims to resolve discrepancies and secure reimbursement
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant billing records and documentation
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans
- Analyze account receivables and report on billing performance metrics
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure coding accuracy and documentation
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certification as CPB (Certified Professional Biller) or CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- Expert knowledge of CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 coding systems
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth)
- Familiarity with insurance claim processes (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or equivalent experience
