In this pivotal role, you will be the bridge between clinical excellence and financial stability. You will manage the billing process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and medical records to ensure accuracy before billing.
- Submit and follow up on medical claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance).
- Analyze and resolve denied claims and appeals to maximize revenue.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, including ICD-10 and CPT codes.
- Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans in a professional manner.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with the coding team to ensure accurate documentation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Medical Billing preferred.
- Certification such as CBCS, CPC, or RHIT is a strong plus but not required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or a related role.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
