Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility, coverage, and benefits before service delivery
- Resolve claim denials and billing discrepancies through appeals and follow-ups
- Maintain accurate patient accounts and financial records using EHR systems
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans
- Stay updated on coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT) and regulatory changes
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure documentation meets billing requirements
Qualifications
- 1+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing software
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement policies
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
- Effective communication skills for patient and insurer interactions
- Certification (CPC, CCS, or similar) preferred but not required
