Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS standards
- Verify insurance coverage and resolve claim denials within 48 hours
- Manage patient accounts receivable with monthly aging reports
- Conduct thorough audits of billing documentation for compliance
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure charge accuracy
- Utilize Epic EHR system for real-time claim tracking
- Train new billers on department protocols and best practices
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a hospital or clinic setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance regulations
- Advanced proficiency in Epic EHR and NextGen billing platforms
- Strong analytical skills for complex claim resolution
- Excellent communication skills for patient/provider interactions
- Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance in all processes
- BA/BS in Health Information Management or related field preferred
