Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to insurance companies using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to service delivery
- Manage accounts receivable through follow-up on unpaid claims and patient statements
- Resolve billing discrepancies and denials through effective communication with payers
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and industry billing standards
- Utilize Epic and NextGen EHR systems for efficient claim processing
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and AR aging
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, NextGen, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Exceptional attention to detail with error rate below 2%
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with clinical teams
- Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or related field preferred
