Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect necessary demographic information.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Submit claims to insurance payers electronically and manually.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims and denials.
- Prepare and send monthly patient statements and collection letters.
- Reconcile daily transactions and maintain accurate billing records.
- Work directly with patients to resolve billing questions and discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Billing Specialist (CBS) is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding sets.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
