Responsibilities
- Accurately process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before service delivery
- Manage accounts receivable through systematic follow-up on unpaid claims
- Adhere to HIPAA compliance standards for patient data protection
- Resolve billing discrepancies through direct communication with providers and payers
- Maintain detailed documentation of all billing transactions
- Stay updated on coding regulations (ICD-10, CPT) and policy changes
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience
- Certification in medical billing (CPC, CMA, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, Medisoft, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement policies
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills for resolving billing issues
- Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
