Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits before claim submission
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims
- Resolve billing discrepancies through direct communication with providers and insurers
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing guidelines
- Generate regular reports on billing performance and denial rates
- Collaborate with coding and clinical departments to ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience in a clinical or facility setting
- Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or similar EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with denial management and appeals processes
- Valid US work authorization and HIPAA compliance training
