Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance payers using CMS-1500 forms.
- Follow up on denied claims and appeal them within established timeframes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the billing software.
- Reconcile daily deposits and bank statements to ensure financial integrity.
- Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or RHIT certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
