Responsibilities
- Accurate Claim Submission: Review patient charts and verify insurance information to ensure accurate coding and submission of claims.
- Denial Management: Investigate denied or rejected claims, identify root causes, and resubmit them for timely payment.
- Account Reconciliation: Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid balances, and send statements to patients.
- Compliance & Security: Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of patient data.
- Software Management: Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software to track claim status and financial reports.
- Patient Communication: Handle billing inquiries from patients and insurance companies professionally and courteously.
- Policy Updates: Stay current with changes in medical coding guidelines and payer policies.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.
- Knowledge: Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding, as well as knowledge of medical terminology.
- Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR software.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and manage complex data sets with precision.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Health Administration is a plus.
