Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect required demographic information.
- Prepare and submit medical claims (CMS-1500) to insurance carriers in a timely manner.
- Review and resolve claim denials and rejections efficiently.
- Manage accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding balances, and post payments.
- Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries.
- Ensure all billing practices comply with HIPAA regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, CMC, or CMRS preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid capacity.
