Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and accurately enter demographic information into the billing system.
- Generate and submit medical claims to insurance carriers electronically and via paper.
- Monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and prepare necessary appeals.
- Manage accounts receivable, including patient billing statements and collection of outstanding balances.
- Resolve billing inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers in a timely manner.
- Ensure all billing practices comply with HIPAA regulations and coding standards (ICD-10, CPT).
- Collaborate with the medical coding team to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
Qualifications
- CPC or CBCS certification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) and EHR systems.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to detect and correct errors in data entry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and payers.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
