Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance information and eligibility prior to services.
- Submit accurate and timely claims to various insurance payers (CMS-1500).
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeal denials to maximize revenue.
- Review and post payments to patient accounts.
- Respond to patient billing inquiries and resolve account issues.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and medical billing regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding guidelines, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- High school diploma or GED required; CPC or COC certification is a plus.
