In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing and maximizing reimbursement for our medical practices. You will work closely with insurance providers and patients to resolve billing inquiries and maintain a seamless financial workflow.
Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Accurately code and submit medical claims (ICD-10 and CPT) to commercial and government payers, including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Revenue Cycle Oversight: Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on denied or unpaid claims, and appeal rejections to ensure timely payment.
- Patient Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service to minimize claim denials.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain organized, accurate billing records and documentation.
- Customer Support: Communicate effectively with patients regarding outstanding balances, explanation of benefits (EOB), and payment arrangements.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Health Information Management, Medical Billing, or a related field; High school diploma with CPC certification is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS), or RHIA/RHIT credentials are a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Medical Billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth, or Meditech).
- Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of medical billing regulations, payer guidelines, and claim processing procedures.
- Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
