Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and insurance information to ensure accurate coding and billing.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (Blue Cross, United Healthcare, etc.) and follow up on unpaid claims.
- Manage patient accounts, including posting payments and applying patient balances.
- Analyze and resolve billing denials and rejections to maximize revenue collection.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their financial responsibilities and insurance coverage.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in medical coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT) and payer policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or Medical Billing is preferred.
- Certification such as CPC, CBCS, or CBA is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Medical Billing Software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
