Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit medical claims (CMS-1500 and UB-04) to insurance payers in a timely manner.
- Verify and validate patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy.
- Analyze denied or rejected claims and troubleshoot to ensure successful resubmission.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and clearinghouses regarding billing inquiries and account balances.
- Utilize EHR and billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or equivalent) to manage patient records and financial data.
- Stay updated on current coding guidelines, payer policies, and HIPAA regulations.
- Generate and review monthly reports to track accounts receivable and revenue performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Health Administration preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CBCS, or RHIT) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
