Responsibilities
- Verify and code patient insurance information accurately using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit clean claims to payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) to maximize reimbursement.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and resolve billing issues efficiently.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and clearly explain statements and insurance coverage.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
- Collaborate with medical coders and front-office staff to resolve discrepancies and improve revenue cycle efficiency.
- Utilize billing software to generate reports and track financial performance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Health Information Technology preferred.
- Certification as a CPC, CCA, or RHIT is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Strong knowledge of medical coding and billing regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
