Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered.
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Review and appeal denied claims to maximize revenue recovery.
- Manage patient billing inquiries, provide statements, and collect payments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and billing documentation.
- Reconcile daily transactions and maintain the billing ledger.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal company policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management Systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, NextGen).
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation (optional, depending on role).
