Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical claims for accuracy and completeness before submission.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurers) electronically.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve claim denials to maximize revenue.
- Maintain accurate patient records and billing logs within the EHR system.
- Communicate with patients regarding billing questions and outstanding balances.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing/Coding preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CMRS, CPC-H) is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) and billing software.
- Deep understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to detect errors.
