Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and insurance claims to ensure accuracy before submission.
- Submit claims to various insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) using electronic and manual methods.
- Follow up on denied or delayed claims to resolve issues and secure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and provide excellent customer service regarding outstanding balances.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
- Process patient statements and reconcile accounts receivable on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with the billing team to identify trends and improve revenue cycle efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related field.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
