Responsibilities
- Accurately verify and update patient insurance information prior to the rendering of services.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to third-party payers using CMS-1500 forms and electronic billing systems.
- Review and appeal denied claims to maximize revenue recovery and reduce write-offs.
- Manage the Accounts Receivable (A/R) aging report and perform proactive follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and all state/federal billing guidelines.
- Collaborate with clinical and coding teams to resolve billing discrepancies and resolve patient inquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the EHR system.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Coding preferred.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CMC certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Greenway).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical problem-solving skills, and time management abilities.
