Responsibilities
- Accurately verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Process and submit medical claims (HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10) to insurance carriers electronically.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid claims, and manage denial management effectively to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Maintain and update patient medical records with billing information in strict compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with the billing team and medical coders to resolve discrepancies and optimize revenue cycle performance.
- Generate and review monthly financial reports and aging statements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10 coding, and insurance reimbursement processes.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
