Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance information to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Process medical insurance claims (ICD-10, CPT) and follow up on pending or denied claims.
- Manage accounts receivable by identifying outstanding balances and sending statements to patients.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and communicate effectively with insurance carriers and patients.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
- Maintain detailed records of all billing activities using EHR systems.
- Generate and analyze monthly financial reports to identify trends and improve revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CBCS, or CPC-H) is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related field.
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to spot errors quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
