Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Accurately prepare and submit medical claims to various insurance carriers (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid).
- Follow up on denied or rejected claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable and maintain a clean AR ledger.
- Communicate with patients regarding billing questions and outstanding balances.
- Utilize EHR software (Epic, Cerner) to document billing actions and update patient records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital billing policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Biller (CBCS) is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management.
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with medical billing software and EHR systems.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
