Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies before procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining sterile fields
- Handle surgical equipment sterilization and maintenance per hospital protocols
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after procedures to prevent retention
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and position them correctly
- Document surgical cases accurately in electronic health records
- Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and restock as needed
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent operating room experience
- Proficiency with major surgical equipment (scopes, power tools, endoscopic systems)
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- BLS/CPR certification and ability to maintain
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- New Jersey surgical tech license in good standing
- Experience with electronic documentation systems
