Responsibilities
- Submit and manage claims submissions to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial insurers) electronically.
- Review and analyze denied or rejected claims to identify root causes and submit appeals.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and benefit information to prevent claim denials.
- Generate and mail patient invoices and monthly statements; follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing protocols.
- Assist with monthly financial audits and prepare reports for the finance team.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth, or equivalent).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and insurance representatives.
