Responsibilities
- Verify and validate patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to the provision of services.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit clean claims to payers (Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid) and track their status.
- Analyze denied or rejected claims to identify root causes and appeal denials effectively.
- Manage patient accounts receivable and coordinate payment plans when necessary.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with the billing team to optimize revenue cycle performance and reduce days in accounts receivable.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing, medical coding, or revenue cycle management.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) certification is highly preferred.
- Proficient in medical billing software such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner.
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement models and payer rules.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate degree or certificate in Medical Billing and Coding required.
