Responsibilities
- Review and process medical insurance claims for accuracy and completeness
- Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes based on medical documentation
- Submit claims electronically to insurance companies and government payers
- Follow up on denied or unpaid claims to ensure timely reimbursement
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment arrangements
- Maintain patient confidentiality and strict HIPAA compliance protocols
- Utilize Epic EHR and NextGen billing software systems daily
- Resolve billing discrepancies through documentation verification
Qualifications
- No prior medical billing experience required - we train from the ground up!
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong attention to detail with 98%+ data accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to learn specialized medical coding systems
- Customer service mindset with problem-solving abilities
- Willingness to obtain AAPC certification within first year
